A Visit from St. Nic

Join me on this cozy, magical, fated mates sapphic romance!

Ashley Turner has finally accepted a life without romance, but Cupid apparently did not get the memo.

Nic (Nicole) Cupidi has been looking forward to their first Christmas off in almost a century. Instead, they find themself working through the holiday yet again. As a direct descendant of the original Cupid line, Nic carries the weight of expectation, and their father, the Provost of Universitas Cupidi, never lets them forget it. At 490 years old, they are one of the oldest active Cupids still in the field. Their match record is legendary, their methods are unconventional, and their most recent assignment went more sideways than usual. Their refusal to explain what happened costs them their vacation and lands them on a new assignment in Hollybrook.

Ashley Turner is the town’s unofficial holiday elf. The fifty-five-year-old Director of Community Development lives for seasonal celebrations, even if she keeps her cheer carefully separated from her private life. Five years after discovering her wife’s infidelity beside their two-story Christmas tree, she has sworn off love entirely. This year she plans to lose herself in decorations, community events, and the temporary hire who will cover Maryann’s maternity leave.

When Ashley and Nic meet, sparks fly. She tells herself it is static electricity. It is certainly not attraction. And it is absolutely not magic. Yet there is something about the charming temp who should be a stranger but feels oddly familiar.

Cupids spend weeks observing their human charges while invisible, manifesting only when it is time to guide a destined match. Ashley should not be able to see Nic at all.

But what happens when a human can see a Cupid even when she shouldn’t be able to? It might just be a Christmas miracle.

A Visit From St. Nic is a magical, contemporary sapphic holiday romance with Cupids, Greek Gods, and fated mates.

JD Locke (she/they) is a non-binary, neurodivergent sapphic author who believes that every love story deserves a happily ever after—especially the queer ones. After years of producing content behind the scenes, JD finally turned the spotlight inward and started writing the kinds of stories she’d always wanted to see: tender, tropey, heart-filling romances where sapphic characters get the happily ever after and the forever love that they deserve.

A California native, JD lives in the Los Angeles area with her wife and their ever-growing crew of cats and dogs (she’s the cat person; her wife’s team dog). When not writing, you can usually find her painting, reading, playing guitar, DIY-ing, or 3D printing something unexpected.

Her favorite themes to explore are found family, second chances, and the kind of love that changes everything. She’s a lifelong romantic who devours Hallmark movies (and wishes every single one was sapphic), and a firm believer that chosen family is just as real—and often more powerful—than the one you’re born into.

JD’s love of character-driven storytelling deepened during the pandemic, when she discovered sapphic fiction. With the support of two fellow authors and mentors, Kimberly A. Todd and Jamey Moody, along with the sapphic author community that embraced her like family, JD found her writing wings in 2024.

While she’s kicking things off in contemporary romance, JD’s inner sci-fi nerd and fantasy geek are never far behind. Whatever the genre, one thing’s for sure: there will always be sapphic love at the heart of it.
